Cleary and Chandler named 2009 May Day Queen and Tiny Queen
Sarah Cleary, daughter of Kim and Lisa Cleary, will be crowned the 2009 May Day Queen during the Ossoli Club of Corbin’s 66th annual May Day Festival on Friday.
Patton Chandler, the four year old daughter of Mel and Jane Chandler, will be this year’s Tiny Queen.
Voting ended Friday and the following young ladies will make up the Queen’s court: first runner-up, Meredith Huff; second runner-up, Mandi Robinson; third runner-up, Lauren Tipton; fourth runner-up, Calli Hendrickson; fifth runner-up, Kalae’ Barton; sixth runner-up, Christina Heinss; and attendants, Kayla kUhl, Staci Nantz, Dalice Ballou and Haley Smith.
In the Tiny Queen’s race, first runner-up was Makenna Sevier, second runner-up was Sarah Fox, third runner-up was Rachel Morton and fourth runner-up was Avery Darden. Tiny Queen attendants will be KayLee Bullard, Brianica Childress, Tara Doolin and Carlie McArthur.
The Ossoli Club of Corbin’s 66th annual May Day Festival will take place on Friday, May 1, at the Corbin High School gymnasium beginning at 7:30 p.m. The festival involves local children from preschool through high school in fund raising, community involvement, and creative performance. The theme for this year’s program is "Dancing Through the Garden of Life".
Half the May Day proceeds each year go directly to the classrooms and groups that participate in the May Day program. The other half is used for community improvement projects year-round. Examples include contributions to building improvements at Corbin High School and St. Camillus Academy, donations to benefit any number of local programs/organizations such as the Corbin Public Library, Corbin’s United Effort, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Science Olympiad Team, Corbin High School Choir, Corbin Middle School Band, Corbin Middle School Academic Team, Corbin Fire Department, American Cancer Society, Lions Club Annual Christmas Basket Fund, Empty Stocking Fund, and Meals on Wheels,
