CHS Theatre presents ‘The Workshop’ this Friday and Saturday
Have you ever wondered what life is REALLY like inside Santa’s workshop leading up to the big night of Christmas Eve? Well, if you would like to see firsthand the craziness that goes on behind the scenes at the North Pole then you should definitely make plans to see the Corbin Redhound Theatre’s latest presentation, The Workshop, this Friday and Saturday at Corbin High School.
“Typically, when you think of the workshop you think of a bunch of little, happy elves just skipping around,” said senior Josh Edwards, who plays the character of Willie in the production. “But this takes a more corporate view of the workshop. Like, what would the workshop actually be like in real life?”
Edwards said that attendees of the show can expect a positive experience, with plenty of laughs. “It’s just going to be a really great time,” he said. “The cast are all really excited to present this to the public.”
Senior Andrew Collins, who plays the character of the shop boss, Rodney, pointed out that The Workshop will be a little different compared to some of the other more recent Redhound Theatre productions, such as Disney’s Frozen and the Little Mermaid.
“This is a straight play,” said Collins. “There are no song numbers, so it is a much different process to prepare for. You get to put a lot more focus on the acting and the characters.”
“I think that this script has probably been, in my opinion, the strongest that we’ve done in a while,” Collins added. “I’m excited. I think it has come together really well, and I feel confident to put it on for the public.”
The CHS Redhound Theatre will present The Workshop this Friday, Dec. 8, at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10. Student tickets will be $8, and children four-and-under will be admitted for free.
