Charlie Raymond Hamblin
Charlie Raymond Hamblin, 87, of Hazel Park, Michigan, passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 at Angela Hospice Care Center in Livonia, MI.
He was born on May 26, 1932 in Whitley County, Kentucky.
He returned home to Heaven after a long battle of illnesses. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years and his family as he departed this life.
He retired from Ford Motor Company and was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 228 in Sterling Heights, MI.
He loved to fish, hunt, and antique but his true joy was spending time with family and friends.
He was always very positive, joyful and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Jason and Sarah Ottie (Meadors) Hamblin, his grandson, Travis Hopson, two sisters and four brothers, including his twin brother.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virgie (Wilson) Hamblin whom he married on February 17, 1954.
In addition to his loving wife, Virgie, he is survived by his son Willard Dean (Brenda) Hamblin; daughters, Brenda Sue (Bobby) Wells, Sharon (Roger) Hopson, and Vickie (Derek) Teetsel. He was blessed with grandchildren Angela (Kevin) Murray, Candace (Larry Tisdale) Hamblin, Ryan (Crystal) Hopson, Sara (Travis) Hopson, Katelyn Teetsel, Alivia Teetsel; and great grandchildren, Kyler Murray, Kenlea Murray, and Cole Hopson. He is also survived by two sisters, Lela Oshie Petrey of Williamsburg, and Faye Keck of Fyffe, Alabama.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, at Ellison Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, at Ellison Funeral Home with Tommy Buford officiating.
Burial will follow in the Youngs Creek Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Hopson, Kevin Murray, A.J. Lawson, Derek Teetsel, Jerome Walker and Bobby Wells. Honorary pallbearers will be Lincoln Canada and Clark Callebs.
