Charles Edward York
Charles Edward York, age 82 of Corbin, Kentucky and formally of Clarified, Tennessee was welcomed home Saturday September 17, 2022. He was born April 18, 1940, in Middlesboro, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank York and Sarah (Hyden) York. He is also was preceded by brothers, Shelby York, Sherman York, William York, Jimmy York, Cornelius York and sister Georgia (York) Cox.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Enda Mae (Hatfield) York and sister, Loretta (York) Vandergriff.
His surviving children are Jerry Wayne Hatfield and Debbie, Charles Edward York, Jr. and wife, Erica, Jeffrey Lynn York and wife Lora, and Lavendia “Katie” (York) Lay and husband, William; and grandchildren, Alexander York, Samantha Powell, Lindsey York, Sarah Logan, Catherine York and Megan York.
Charles has been a member of The Way of Holliness Church of God for 41 years. While serving as a Deacon, he helped build The Way of Holliness Church of God.
Throughout most of his life, he served his community as an electrician, helping to construct the pilot tunnel in Cumberland Gap, among always lending a helping hand to a host of family and friends.
His smile and the way he made others laugh will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2022, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services starting at 8 p.m., with Rev. Orville Petrey officiating.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in the Clairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
