Chamber of Commerce plans candidate forums
Local residents will have the chance to find out a little bit more about some of the candidates for local office during the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s Candidates Forum, which is scheduled for next Tuesday in Williamsburg.
The forum will take place during the chamber’s October membership luncheon, which starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Cumberland Inn.
“The Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring this forum to provide an opportunity for our local candidates to speak directly to voters about important issues in their respective races,” said Trent Knuckles, President of the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. “I’m looking forward to everyone’s participation in this event. Our chamber wants voters to be informed when they go to the polls Nov. 8.”
Candidates invited to speak at the luncheon include 82nd District Rep. Regina Bunch and her opponent, Bill Conn, Williamsburg City Council candidates Laurel West, Mary Ann Stanfill, Erica Harris, Patty Faulkner, Richard Foley, Loren Connell and Adam Sulfridge, and Williamsburg Independent Board of Education candidates, Allan Steely, Ed McGrath and Jason Caddell.
The forum is open to the public. There is no cost for admission, but there is a $12 charge for lunch for those wishing to eat.
This month’s luncheon is being sponsored by SEKRI.
The chamber is also planning to hold a separate candidates forum in Corbin that is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 3.
This forum will be for the Corbin City Commission candidates and the state representative candidates.
The Corbin Independent Board of Education candidates aren’t being invited to speak because candidates in that race are uncontested.
