Carroll Manford Helm
Carroll Manford Helm, 72, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Duke University Hospital.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, author, educator, and mentor. Teaching was a life-long passion. He started his career as a teacher, became a principal, then an administrator for the Hamblen County Board of Education, and Dean of Walters’ State Community College Greeneville campus, received his doctorate in education, and eventually returned to teach education even after retirement at University of the Cumberlands and Belmont Abbey College.
His teaching and mentorship touched countless students’ lives. He believed you could change your life by expanding your mind and wished to express the importance of being kind to others.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lucas Helm, and parents Carroll Edward Helm and Jacqueline Russell.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Helm of Morristown; children, Scott Helm of Charlotte, NC, Lydia Drew of Russellville, and Tracy Ashcraft of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Zachary and James Helm, Isaac, Eylan, and Azalee Drew, and Taylor and Will Ashcraft; brother, Norman Helm, and sister Sandra Dickerson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are planned for 2:00 pm Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Allen Funeral home is handling arrangements.
