Carl Francis Thornton

Carl Francis Thornton, age 89, of Williamsburg, KY, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022 at his home.
He was born April 19, 1933 in Whitley County, KY. to the late Frank and Nora Richardson Thornton.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Rountree Thornton; one sister, Mildred Jones and husband, Joe Jones; three brothers, Bill Thornton, Joe Thornton and wife Margaret and Edgar Thornton and wife Clara.
Carl taught school for 35 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by one daughter, Deita Morgan (Joe) of Williamsburg, KY; two grandchildren, Jason Morgan (Lindsey) of Williamsburg, KY, Carla Goins (Nick) of Corbin, KY; seven great-grandchildren, Aeriella, Leonidas, Sadie, Tucker, Abby, Maddox and Trent; one sister, Lola Shelley (Clifford) of Williamsburg, KY; a very special best friend, Bessie Smith of Williamsburg, KY; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral service was Sunday, October 23, at Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Hodge and Rev. Randy Bargo officiating.
Graveside service was Monday October 24, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Pleasant View with Interment followed.
