Carl Edward Lawson
Carl Edward Lawson, age 77, of New Paris passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at his residence. Carl was born on August 10, 1944 in Emlyn, Kentucky, the son of the late George & Anna Mae (Towe) Lawson.
Carl served four years in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Okinawa, Japan and was a Kentucky Colonel. He retired from Chrysler after 30+ years, where he worked his way from assembly line to safety foreman. Carl was an avid reader (especially the daily newspaper and history books), and he loved watching the University of Kentucky basketball.
In retirement, he enjoyed a simple country life on his farm with his wife and animals. He loved his family fiercely and was kind and generous to all, and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by one brother, and four sisters.
Survived by his wife of 34 years, Margaret (Phillips) Lawson; children, Carla (Tony) Bianco, Derrick (Shannon) Lawson, Jennifer (Mike) Helms, Stephanie (Matt) Perreira, and Brandi (TJ) Smith; 14 grandchildren, Ashli, Kyle, Dylan, Cayla, Claire, Destiny, Jake, Dalton, Cade, Trent, Brett, Roman, Tyler, and Alex; and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty (John) Stiner and Mildred Capps.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, October 14, at the Barnes Funeral Home in New Paris, Ohio with Rev. James C. Sizelove officiating.
Interment was in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris with military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
