BROTHERS SPLIT

It was a split for the Vanover brothers at the Kentucky High School State Wrestling Tournament Thursday. Solomon Vanover, a freshman, defeated University Heights sophomore Brandon Borneman in a pin with :06 left in the first period. Solomon jumed out to a 2-0 lead then moved ahead 5-0 before Borneman came back with two moves that resulted in four points. Solomon went ahead, 7-4 right before his victory. Vanover wrestles in the 171-class.
Brother Samuel didn’t fare as well. He was defeated by North Hardin senior Stephen House, 6-1 in three periods. House scored two points in each period easing out to 4-0 lead. Samuel scored a point in the second period, but was unable to make the comeback.
Whitley County finished the day with a 4-5 record. All nine wrestlers will be back in action Friday at the Frankfort Convention Center.
