The Lynn Camp Wildcats opened play in their own Bowman Memorial Classic Thursday night with a win over the Owsley County Owls, 57-44.
The Wildcats, who lost to the Owls 66-38 back on Dec. 3, had to come from behind to get their first win of the season. The Owls (2-5) led 26-19 at the half, but the Wildcats came storming back in the third quarter to outscore Owsley County, 22-5. Lynn Camp never looked back after taking a 33-31 lead on a steal and lay-up by Ryan Sevier.
The Wildcats (1-6) trailed 31-27 when they went on a 17-0 run to put the game away.
Chase Turner led all scorers in the game with 19 points while Shawn Couch tossed in 16 points. Chad Hall led the Owls with 17 points.
The Jellico Blue Devils led by Cody Malicoat defeated the Harlan Green Dragons in the second game, 64-49.
The boys’ tournament continues tonight when the Wildcats meet Harlan at 7:00 p.m., followed by Owsley County and Jellico. Saturday, Owsley County will take on Harlan at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service honoring the Bowman Family along with Mrs. Rhonda Archer and Mrs. Gail Brown.
The Wildcats will take on Jellico at 8:45 p.m.

The girls’ portion of the tournament also got underway Thursday night with Jellico edging Pineville, 66-65. The Lady Devils will play again tonight (Friday) against the Jackson County Lady Generals at 5:30.
Saturday, Lynn Camp will take on Jackson County at 12:00; followed by Williamsburg vs. Pineville and Lynn Camp vs. Jellico at 3 p.m. Williamsburg will play Jackson County at 5:30 p.m.
There will be two games Sunday with Lynn Camp meeting Pineville at 1:30 p.m., followed by Jellico vs. Williamsburg at 3:00 p.m.
The tournament will wrap-up Monday night with Pineville playing Jackson County at 6:00 p.m., followed by Williamsburg vs. Lynn Camp.
