Two touchdowns in the final minute of the second period by the Middlesboro Yellow Jackets proved to be the difference as the visitors down Lynn Camp, 48-14 at Mitchell Field.
With the game tied 8-8 and less than a minute to go in the half, the Wildcats was forced to punt on a fourth down play. Middlesboro sophomore Hunter Adams grabbed the ball and raced 50 yards to the end zone. Jordan Bisceglia added the extra point and the Yellow Jackets led 15-8.
Bisceglia then tried an on-side kick that rolled to the Lynn Camp side of the field. Junior Xavier Rogers jumped on the ball and recovered for Middlesboro. The Jackets made the best of the situation and scored with 2.5 seconds on a Trevor Hoskins pass to Casey Earls for a 21-8 lead. Bisceglia added the kick as Middlesboro went to the break with a 14-point lead.
The third quarter was all Middlesboro as the Jackets added 20 points and took a 42-8 lead in the game. Ford scored twice in the third period on runs of 34 and 57 yards.
Lynn Camp got its second touchdown with 11:49 in the fourth quarter when Roskopf broke loose on a 52 yard run.
Middlesboro closed out the scoring when Bowling scored on a 25 yard run with 3:54 left in the game.
Roskopf, a junior, carried the offensive load for the Wildcats. He had 144 yards on 20 carries. The Yellow Jackets had more than 400 yards on the night. Hoskins, a senior, passed for 132 yards while Ford and company had 275 yards on the ground.
Lynn Camp will be on the road Friday night when they travel to Perry County Central. The will meet the Commodores in a 7:30 showdown.
Perry Central is led by quarterback Jordan Amis and running back Brandon Willis. Willis leads the Commodores with 349 yards on 47 carries. He has scored two touchdowns. Amis is 5 of 13 for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Demetri Travis has 54 yards through the air and one touchdown.
Perry Central opened the season with a 28-24 loss to arch-rival, Hazard then lost last week to Letcher County Central, 41-22.
