Employees for the City of Corbin will see an increase during an upcoming pay period because the Corbin City Commission unanimously approved a 2021 cost of living adjustment during its Nov. 15 meeting.
The one-time payment would equate to $700 for full time employees and $350 for part time employees.
The cost to the city would be approximately $87,052.70
“Our employees have been there the whole time and I think that they deserve this,” said Corbin City Manager Marlon Sams. “I think the employees are well-deserving.”
Corbin Mayor Suzie Razmus said that it is something that the city tries to do around this time each year if the city is financially capable.
In other business, the commission:
- Unanimously approved tax refunds for five individuals totaling $1,246.06 because they were all eligible for the Homestead Exemption.
- Unanimously approved transferring a certificate of deposit, which matured on Nov. 16, from Cumberland Valley National Bank to L&N Federal Credit Union after being offered a rate of .6 percent.
- Approved Mike Watkins as the new code enforcement officer. Commissioner Seth Reeves disqualified himself from the vote because Watkins is a family member.
- Unanimously approved the transfer of American Rescue Plan Act funds to Forcht Bank which offered a rate of .4 percent and allows six withdrawals per month and limited deposits without penalty. The offer also includes a $20 service charge per month.
