Betty Joe Perkins
Betty Joe Perkins, 91, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at The Heritage Nursing Home.
She was born May 20, 1926 in Loyal, to the late Kelsey and Minnie (Criscillis) Perkins.
She was a long-time active member of First Christian Church in Corbin.
Betty retired after serving thirty seven years as the City Clerk of Corbin. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, the Christian Women’s Fellowship club and the Kentucky Municipal Clerks Association. Betty was also a graduate of Union College.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Jerry “Zeke” Perkins and Donald Wayne Perkins and one Sister Billie June Perkins.
She is survived by her niece Jodie Lee Perkins, two nephews Jerry Perkins and wife Sandy, Kyle Perkins and a sister-in-law Arlene Perkins Lynch all of Corbin, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 29, at the O’Neil-Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Mitchell officiating.
Burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Loyal, on Saturday, September 30, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations in her name to: First Christian Church of Corbin.
O’Neil-Lawson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
