Benefit singing scheduled for October 7 for baby born with microtia – CANCELED
A benefit singing is scheduled for October 7, 2017 starting at 5 p.m., at the Whitley Central Intermediate School in honor of Miss Paisley Glynn Manus.
Paisley Glynn was born with microtia, a congenital deformity where the pinna (external ear) is underdeveloped.
Microtia can be unilateral (one side only) or bilateral (affecting both sides), and occurs in one out of about 8,000–10,000 births. In Paisley’s case, only one side – the right side – is affected.
The condition requires a hearing device to assist with hearing and eventually re-constructive surgery.
In July, Paisley-Glynn received her first Baha hearing device and she is doing well with it. Later she will undergo re-constructive surgery.
The community is invited to the benefit singing. Reported groups scheduled to perform include: Highway 204 featuring Ben Mason; Straight Creek featuring Vernon Reynolds, and Echo Valley Voices.
Also, on November 4, in Louisville, Paisley Glynn’s family, and her “Baha Buddies”, will be joining her in her first “Walk for Hearing”. The walk is being held to increase the public’s awareness of the health condition, microtia, and to provide resources and support to families who are dealing with the condition. Paisley Glynn’sBaha Buddies will be donating all proceeds from the Walk for Hearing to children with hearing loss.
Paisley Glynn is the daughter of Stacey and Brittany Manus, of Williamsburg.
