Baptist Health Corbin welcomes first baby of 2024
As the clock struck midnight and the world bid farewell to the old year, a bundle of joy arrived to usher in the new beginnings.

Baptist Health Corbin announced Tuesday that it was delighted to announce the arrival of the first baby of the year, a precious addition to our community and a symbol of hope and promise for the days ahead.
On the morning of Jan. 1, 2024, at Baptist Health Corbin, the Labor and Delivery unit echoed with laughter, tears of joy, and the sweet cries of a newborn Taytum Blaire Van Norstran.
The proud mother, Sydney Van Norstran, along with grandparents, Josh and Christie Van Norstran, welcomed their little baby girl into the world at 9:16 a.m., weighing 5 pounds 11.7 ounces. The baby, a true New Year’s miracle, has already captured the hearts of the entire staff.
“I feel incredibly blessed to start the new year with the birth of my precious baby girl. It’s a truly magical and unforgettable experience,” said Sydney. “She is beautiful!”
The hospital staff, led by Melissa Barnett, Patient Care Director, expressed their excitement over the new arrival.
“We are thrilled to be a part of such a special moment. The arrival of the first baby of the year is always a joyous occasion, and it signifies the beauty of new beginnings,” said Barnett.

Grand parents Christie and Josh Van Norstran were on hand for the celebration.
“The staff on Women’s Health and Labor and Delivery have donated gifts to the new baby and mom including a car seat carrier/stroller, car seat cover, newborn car seat head support, breast pads, preemie clothing, changing pad, baby lotion, mittens, baby hamper, night light, sleep sack, and diapers. The Baptist Health Corbin Gift Shop donated baby’s first Teddy Bear.”

Baptist Health Corbin is a 273-bed, acute care facility providing a wide variety of healthcare services to the residents of Whitley, Knox, Laurel, Bell, Clay, McCreary, Harlan and Campbell counties in Kentucky and Campbell County in Tennessee.
