According to Center for Disease Control (CDC) community level calculations, which are released on Friday mornings, Whitley, Knox, Laurel, Clay, Harrison and Robertson rates were calculated as “medium,” while the remainder of the counties in Kentucky were calculated as “low.”
If an area has fewer than 200 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people in the past seven days, then the level classified as “low.” If an area has 200 or more new COVID-19 cases in the past seven days, it is considered “medium” or “high,” depending upon the calculations, according to the CDC.
The Whitley County Health Department reported on March 28 that it has one new COVID-19 death reported over the prior week.
