Baptist Health Corbin sponsoring golf event to benefit neonatal intensive care unit
Baptist Health Corbin is continuing its fundraising efforts to equip its new neonatal intensive care unit with the annual Baptist Golf Classic. All proceeds will go to the effort.
The deadline for registration and sponsorship of the 21st annual event, which will be held at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville, is Monday.
The entry fee is $200 per person.
Baptist Health Corbin Director of Marketing Debbie Hardin, who is organizing the event, said the entry fee covers the participant’s cart and green fee. In addition, participants will receive breakfast and lunch, a zip up golf jacket and a goodie bag,
“All of the participants will have the opportunity to participate in the raffle and the putting contest,” Hardin said.
Hardin said golfers would be grouped into foursomes, with space available for up to 23 groups.
“There are still plenty of spots open,” Hardin said.
For those who would like to contribute, but are not golfers, Hardin said there are eight sponsorship levels available ranging from “Hospitality Sponsor” for $100 to “Tournament Sponsor” for $7,500.
In addition, there is a “Friend of Baptist Health Corbin” for other amounts.
“All sponsorship levels are still available,” Hardin said, adding the goal is to raise at least $10,000 for the NICU.
Hardin said all proceeds would be used to purchase specialized equipment for the new facility.
On the list is a Panda Warmer, which keeps infants warm as well as making integrated resuscitation equipment available for high-risk deliveries.
An Omni-Bed, which is a combination incubator and radiant warmer, phototherapy equipment, such as spotlights and Bili Blankets to promote bonding while providing UV treatment to a newborn, and pyringe Pumps for infusion of IV medications.
The above equipment will cost approximately $100,000
Hardin said all donations are tax-deductible.
Baptist Health Corbin’s NICU opened in December to provide continuous care for critically premature newborns (born prior to 32 weeks gestation), weighing 3 pounds or less, suffering from withdrawal symptoms due to drug exposure during pregnancy.
Prior to the facility opening, families had to travel to Lexington or Knoxville, Tennessee to seek treatment.
The tournament is scheduled for September 12.
