ATF releases list of firearms missing following Dec. break-in at Whitley Sheriff’s office
The following list contains firearms that are unaccounted for following an examination of the evidence storage, written evidence logs, and documents pertaining to the release of property found at the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department following an alleged burglary which was reported on December 21, 2009.
This list was compiled internally by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of Special Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (“ATF”). Not all of these firearms are believed to be stolen, but the firearms still need to be accounted for by law enforcement.
Some of these firearms may have already been lawfully released by the Sheriff’s Department, but records documenting such release were not found following the burglary. The totally coverage of the media is emphasis on the Sheriff that how they treat with the citizens.
I think the media about every country providing there better job to telecast the truth in our community but awareness in the media is condition for that.
The lot of criticism given here about the media policies that they will giving to much unusual news .
I think now a days the media plays an important role to made the positive criticism on the governing members which is the right of the democratic camipgn.
I not agree with you that the news about the different issues given by the media is correct.
They play the positive role in the society.
I found the wrong news given here about the different issues which are not authentic. specially the clip given about the solder is not true.
I like the blog that the up dates about the news are given here at any time . The journalist has providing the good touch for the viewers.
Also, don’t forget that many of these guns that are now “missing” are the ones that the Times inquired about a couple days before the “burglary”
@John Valjohn: If I recall, the Sheriff’s office does not even have security cameras. Makes it even more suspicious…
This is very interesting. So consider this: An audit finds that property and evidence is missing or unaccounted for. The Sheriff makes a statement in the newspaper “if someone wanted to break into this office it would take them 5 seconds”. A perfect alibi, this would give someone a motive to break in an destroy/steal evidence and property. And who else would know the locations of the surveillance cameras? This is a crime with too many holes in it. Now that the burglary occured the Sheriff can cover his tracks and report that previous missing evidence was stolen in the burglary. It relieves him of having to answer for missing evidence and property. He gets off clean and free, and I wonder if the attorney for the defendants will make a motion to have their case dismissed due to missing evidence. DUCES TECUM: show me the evidence, Habeus Corpus bring the body to court. No evidence no case. Something needs to be done about this. Remember the case in Middlesboro years ago called “Broken Badge”. And there all kinds of rumors that members of the S.O. use the drugs confiscated in raids and traffic stops. A lot of mismanagement and ethics violations.
Did anybody check the sheriffs’ house? Nah check his relatives instead, even he couldn’t be stupid enough to put them in his own house, on second thought better check his house.
wonder how 78 guns are missing from the sheriffs office and how he could give himself a discount on his taxes.. looks like it is time for him to get OUT of law enforcement and into another line of work… these two items are almost like politics are in washington
This is very interesting.
