Arrest made in Friday robbery at B&H Shoes

A London man was arrested Friday in connection with the robbery of B&H Shoes in Corbin.

Cameron M. Brummett, 19, is facing one count of second-degree robbery after he allegedly brandished a handgun that was stuck in the waist of his pants.

According to the arrest citation, Brummett came into the store on U.S. 25E and attempted to take a shirt and hat. After leaving the store with the items, an employee confronted him, at which point he brandished the gun.

Brummett fled the scene in a car, driving toward London on U.S. 25.

A store employ followed him, providing dispatchers a description of the vehicle and updates on their location.

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies were advised of the incident and that the robber was currently on U.S. 25.

Major Chuck Johnson, the department’s chief deputy, who was traveling on U.S. 25, encountered the vehicle in the Fariston community between Lily and London, initiating a traffic stop and holding Brummett until Knox County Sheriff’s deputies arrived to arrest him.

While law enforcement failed to locate the handgun, Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy William Stewart, the department’s public affairs officer, stated that Brummett was wearing the shirt and hat at the time of his arrest.

Brummett is being held in the Knox County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
