Archie B. Hill
Archie B. Hill, 97, of North 10th Street, Williamsburg, departed this life on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Williamsburg Health and Rehab Center.
He was born on July 22, 1921 in Williamsburg, to the late Samuel Joe and Sarah Katie (Powers) Hill.
He was also preceded in death of his wife of 32 years, Agnes (Miller) Hill; sisters, Marie Hill Wright, Joy Hill Early and Imogene Hill Schoch; brother, Carl Ray Hill; and special fishing buddy, Wilbert Early.
Archie was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II in the European Theater and was Commander of the Williamsburg National Guard, he retired as a Major. He was an Educator serving as a Teacher, Principal and Director of Pupil Personnel.
He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Hill Shelley (Lester) of Williamsburg; three grandchildren, William Shelley of Sarasota, FL, Angie Shelley Quigley (Mike) of Lexington, and Darin Shelley of Williamsburg; one great grandson, Josh Quigley of Lexington; two brothers, Clyde Hill of Williamsburg and Martin Hill (Kate) of Brookeville, OH; sister, Thelma Boone of Dayton, OH; special caregivers, nephew, Dennis Early, Wilma Noe and Gail Thomas; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until the funeral hour on Wednesday, June 5, at the Croley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lester and Rev. Max Cox officiating.
Following the service he will be laid to rest in the Corinth Cemetery.
Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Williamsburg or Whitley County Little League Baseball.
