American Greeting Card Road closed to traffic following two-vehicle wreck
American Greeting Card Road in north Corbin was shut down for almost an hour Thursday afternoon following a collision involving a truck and an SUV.
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency personnel were called to the scene just south of Corbin Manor Apartments about 3 p.m. in response to a wreck involving two vehicles.
One individual requested to go to Baptist Health Corbin via ambulance while a second individual was taken by private vehicle.
Regina Owens who witness the wreck said the GMC Envoy SUV was travelling south when the driver lost control on the wet pavement and began to fishtail. As the driver attempted to regain control, the vehicle crossed the centerline, colliding with the Dodge Dakota pickup truck that was travelling north.
Both vehicles spun multiple times with the SUV hitting a nearby guardrail as it continued south.
The names of the drivers were not immediately available.
The road was reopened to traffic just after 4 p.m.
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies are continuing the investigation.
They were assisted at the scene by officers from Kentucky State Police, Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, West Knox Fire Department and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
