All “A” Update

UPDATE 2: After unfavorable weather conditions postponed the Williamsburg vs. Middlesboro All "A" region championship baseball game Thursday and Friday, the current plan is to play the game Saturday, March 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Williamsburg. Check the 4/1 edition of The News Journal for more details.

UPDATE 1: The Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jackets softball team traveled to Middlesboro Wednesday evening to play for this year’s 13th Region All "A" championship. It was not a good night for the Jackets, who fell 10-0 in their first loss of the 2015 season. They now stand at 4-1 and are scheduled to be back in action Tuesday, March 31 at home against district opponent South Laurel.

ORIGINAL: As reported in the 3/25 edition of The News Journal, the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets baseball team traveled to Barbourville Tuesday night to play the Tigers in the semifinals of this year’s 13^th Region All “A” tournament.

The Jackets won 3-2 in eight innings to improve to 2-0 on the season and qualify for an appearance in the 2015 13^th Region All “A” championship. Williamsburg will host the title game Thursday evening, and will play Middlesboro (5-0), who defeated Harlan and Pineville en route to the region finals.

Also Tuesday, the Williamsburg Lady Jackets softball team remained undefeated on the season at 4-0 with an 8-5 All “A” semifinal victory over the Lynn Camp Lady Wildcats. The win advances them to the 13th Region All "A" softball championship, to be played Wednesday evening at Middlesboro (2-2). The Middlesboro Lady Jackets defeated Harlan and OBI to earn a spot in the region finals.
