Alcohol suspected as factor in rollover crash on I-75 Tuesday

Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies suspect alcohol as a factor in a crash on Interstate 75 Tuesday afternoon in which a minivan rolled multiple times, ejecting the driver.
“I think we were going to Corbin but I can’t remember,” is what the passenger in the vehicle, 45-year-old Shannon Hyre, said according to Deputy Joe Prewitt.
Hyre and the driver, identified as 53-year-old Bobby Chancellor, were both taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Corbin.
Witnesses reported seeing the Ford Windstar travelling north on I-75 attempting to pass a tractor-trailer truck before Chancellor lost control and slid into the median. After rolling multiple times, the vehicle came to rest upside down.
Northbound traffic was reduced to one lane as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
Goldbug firefighters had to help get Hyre out of the vehicle.
