A must-read for the ladies
When I received the following email from a friend, my first thought was RIGHT ON!
It was voted number 1 email of the year and rightly so. So to my gentlemen readers I say forewarned is forearmed and you should read it at your own risk.
The email goes on to say that a man was sick and tired of going to work everyday while his wife stayed at home. He wanted her to know what he went through, so he prayed:
“Dear Lord, I go to work everyday and put in 8 hours while my wife merely stays at home. I want her to know what I go through, so please allow her body to switch with mine for a day. Amen.
So the Lord in his infinite wisdom granted the man his wish. The next morning, sure enough, the man awoke as a woman. He awoke, cooked breakfast for his mate, awakened the kids, laid out their school clothes, packed their lunches, drove them to school, came home and picked up the dry cleaning, took it to the cleaners and stopped off at the bank to make a deposit. Then he drove home, paid the bills, and went to the grocery store, brought the groceries home and put them away.
He then cleaned out the cat’s litter box and bathed the dog.
At that time it was 1 p.m. and he hurried to make the beds, do the laundry, vacuum, dust, and mop the kitchen floor, ran to pick up the kids and got into an argument with them on the way home.
Then he sat up the ironing board and did a little ironing while he watched TV. At 4:30 p.m.,he began peeling potatoes and washing vegetables for a salad. After supper he cleaned the kitchen, folded laundry and bathed the kids.
At 9 p.m. he was exhausted, and though his daily chores weren’t finished, was expected to make love to his mate which he managed to get through without complaint.
The next morning he awoke and knelt by the bed and said, “Lord, I don’t now what I was thinking. I was so wrong to envy my wife’s being able to stay home all day. Please, oh, please, let us trade back,”
And the Lord in his infinite wisdom said. “my son, I feel you have learned your lesson and I will be happy to change things to the way they were.
You’ll just have to wait 9 months, though. You got pregnant last night!
Here is an Estep Christmas favorite — RUM CAKE — that you can make for Thanksgiving.
Rum Cake
Cake Ingredients
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 box (18 1/2 oz) butter golden cake mix
1 instant vanilla pudding mix (3 3/4 oz)
1/2 cup light rum
1/2 cup water
4 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable cooking oil
Rum Glaze Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 stick butter
1/4 cup light rum
1/4 cup water
Rum Glaze Directions
Place all ingredients in small saucepan and boil for 2-3 minutes.
Cake Directions
Place cake and pudding mix in large mixing bowl. Add rum, water, oil and eggs; mix for 2 minutes. Grease and flour a bundt pan or a tube pan.
Pour chopped nuts in pan first and then pour batter into cake pan and bake at 325 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
Remove from oven and poke small holes in cake and start to pour some of the warm Rum Glaze on it. After a few minutes turn cake out of pan onto cake plate and poke more small holes around the top of cake and gradually pour the rest of the Rum Glaze over cake.
NOTE: Rum Cake is best if made a few days ahead of time and let cake set in a cool place.
It gets better and better with time. (If you’re able to refrain from eating immediately.)
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
