A home for the Paw-lidays

Volunteers from the Knox-Whitley Humane Association departed Corbin Tuesday morning to lend a hand to animals displaced in Muhlenberg County in Western Kentucky.
The volunteers took a van load of donated items including pet carriers, food, and more to aid locals in their efforts to reunite, foster, or rehome the numerous animals displaced after tornadoes ravished the area earlier this month.
The group had originally planned to participate in the search and rescue efforts, but as of Tuesday morning, officials told Knox-Whitley Humane Association volunteers that those efforts had been completed.
Volunteers will participate in transporting supplies for both people and pets and perform other tasks local groups need assistance with.
The group is partnering directly with the Muhlenberg County Humane Society.
Christian Mansfield, a volunteer coordinator with the Knox-Whitley Humane Association, said the group plans to volunteer again since the effects of the tornadoes will be ongoing.
Individuals who wish to provide a monetary donation can send checks or money order directly to the Muhlenberg County Humane Society at PO Box 164 Greenville, KY 42345.
