A few random thoughts
The inauguration came and went Tuesday and thanks to modern technology, I was able to catch the majority of President Obama’s speech on AOL radio. I was pretty impressed with some things he had to say and the way he carried himself. He is without a doubt one of the best political speakers of my time.
The question now is can he walk the walk after talking so much. The one thing I did not like is how he ridiculed the past administration for some things it was responsible for. Those things were very unnecessary and if you ask me, could only build walls with others.
I guess my opinion is that, like him or not, he is our President and as a proud American, I will stand behind him and hope that he helps restore the confidence in this great nation.
* Heroes
My editor Trent Knuckles did a story on the Harris family that graced the cover of our People section this week and it’s one of those that makes your heart swell. It’s not every day you can say that you know a real hero, but today, I can say that.
I went to school with Jonathan Harris as well as his brother Jim Ed and, and like so many other times, you would never figure how people’s lives will turn out.
I am proud to say that I was acquainted with him at one time, even though it was in an automtive shop class as a teenager, but even then he was very approachable, much like he seemed in the story.
I had intended to go with Trent to interview the Harris family, but something came up and I didn’t get to. Well, Jonathan, if you happen to stumble upon this, I want to say thanks to you and you father (Gary) for serving our country. It is because of you I can sit at this computer and speak my opinion. We are all indebted to you both.
