TV, film star Larry Sellers to be Master of Ceremonies at Corbin Pow Wow this weekend

Film and television personality Larry Sellers, who most notably starred as “Cloud Dancing” on the hit CBS series “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the sixth annual Kentucky Native American Heritage Museum Pow Wow to be held in Corbin again this year.
The Pow Wow is set to take place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30 and 31, in a field at 4116 Cumberland Falls Hwy., just outside the Corbin city limits.
Sellers has worked in the TV and film industry for over 30 years as a stuntman, actor, translator, technical advisor, director and producer. He is of Osage, Cherokee descent — Buffalo Bull Clan of the Osage Nation. His other works in film and television include appearances in: The Soprano’s, Wayne’s World II, Walker, Texas Ranger; Beverly Hills 90210, Lightning Jack, General Hospital, Gambler III and many more.
Sellers has worked as an educator and historian. He was a fellow at the Newbery Library Center for the History of the American Indian in Chicago. As a result of his studies and research, curriculum for secondary and college level courses were developed and implemented. As an educator, Larry worked with native students from the Phoenix Union High School District. A portion of his work was to teach students to identify their traditional tribal values and help them to use those values to succeed in education and within the dominant society. Larry’s work also included guiding students with little or no cultural exposure to recognize their tribal identity and help them learn their own tribal history and culture.
Sellers has also worked with the Arizona State Department of Education/Division of Indian Education consulting on educational program. He also worked in connection with incorporating traditional tribal medicine into western medicine hospitals with the Arizona State Department of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and with the Phoenix Indian Medical Center Rehabilitation Program.
He has served as emcee of many major national and state functions for both native and non-native organizations. The most noted was at the White House where he was emcee for the President and First Lady’s Literacy Program — Reading is Fundamental.
Presently, Sellers is involved with an organization called Society for Preservation of Traditional Values.
Returning to the Corbin Pow Wow for the sixth straight year is motivational speaker and author Kicking Eagle.
Eagle has worn several badges as a peace officer and continually tours since the release of his first book at the Texas State Fair in 1994. He has appeared at schools, colleges, churches, community events and corporate gathering across American and has addressed millions of listeners as the guest on radio and television programs worldwide.
Kicking Eagles is the author of many books, including The Legend Begins, currently in its tenth printing.
He encourages everyone to come out to the pow wow to meet him.
“The pow wow is a family-oriented event where the entire family can be entertained, motivated and educated,” Eagle said.
“There is no other event where so much love, respect and patriotism is displayed for others … and for America!”
Eagle says he gives a universal and timeless message that bolsters self-esteem and extolls the virtues of effort, even if that effort often ends in failure.
“The only limits you have are those you accept.”
