Lady Colonels hosting Annual First Priority Volleyball Classic this weekend
This Saturday, the defending 13th Region champion Whitley County Lady Colonels will be hosting their Annual First Priority Volleyball Classic at Whitley County High School and Whitley County Middle School.
For those already familiar with the event, you know that it has become one of the premier high school volleyball tournaments in the eastern half of the state. This year, the Classic looks to continue to solidify that reputation as the Lady Colonels welcome in a talented field of 15 other squads.
Making the trip to Whitley County this Saturday, Sept. 23, will be Pulaski County, McCreary Central, Adair County, North Laurel, Southwestern, Knott County Central, Shelby Valley, Cumberland Homeschool (CHAT), Somerset, Jackson County, Barbourville, Rockcastle County, Leslie County, Harlan County and Prestonsburg.
Pool play is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 a.m., and will progress until about 3:30 p.m. The Lady Colonels will play in Pool A, along with Pulaski County, McCreary Central and Adair County, on court 1 inside the high school gymnasium.
Once pool play is complete, teams will enter tournament play in either the Gold or Silver bracket, depending on their records.
Awards will be presented to the first and second place overall teams, and an all-tournament team will also be selected. Following each match, a “player of the game” award will be selected on both sides by the participating players.
Admission will be $10 at the door the day of the tournament, with children 10 and under being admitted for free.
