‘Keep Corbin Clean’ event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 2, at Sanders Park
If you are looking for a way to give back to your community, then you might want to think about helping with an upcoming community clean-up in Corbin early next month.
“We are going to clean-up Corbin. It is kind of an end of summer clean-up event,” said Corbin Tourism Director and Downtown Corbin Manager Maggy Monhollen. “We are encouraging groups and individuals to come out. All of the clean-up supplies will be provided, such as gloves and safety vests.”
Keep Corbin Clean will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 8 – 11 a.m.
Registration will start at Sanders Park at 7:30 a.m.
No pre-registration is required.
“We will have everything there the day of the event,” Monhollen said.
“It is a super community driven event. The Corbin High School Band Boosters will be cooking and serving lunch to the volunteers,” Monhollen said. “The first 100 people to register will get a Keep Corbin Clean T-shirt, and we will have door prizes if they stick around after.”
Also, after the clean-up, the Knox-Whitley Humane Association will be on hand with some animals that are up for adoption.
Monhollen said that the clean-up came about after a young man approached the mayor’s office about facilitating another downtown Corbin litter pick-up.
The event is being presented by the City of Corbin, the Downtown Corbin program and Skyjack Records.
“We have had several great business in the local community reach out willing to sponsor the event,” Monhollen noted.
