Several injured in crash in Gray Friday
Several people were injured in a two vehicle accident Friday afternoon in the Gray community of Knox County.
According to police, a red Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Shawn Green, of Barbourville, was traveling east on US 25E when it ran the red light at the intersection of the road and KY 233. It slammed into a silver Ford driven by Dianna Carnes.
The vehicles spun away from the impact. Green’s card ended up in a ditch after crossing oncoming traffic in the westbound lane.
An adult passenger in Carnes’ vehicle, and some children, were transported to Baptist Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputy Drew Wilson with the Knox County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as factors.
“It looks to be just driver inattention due to the new signal at the intersection,” Wilson said.
