Man tells police he stole rolls of hay because he ‘got bored’
So why did the Keswick Road man allegedly steal rolls of hay during the wee hours of the morning? Because he got bored, according to his arrest citation.
About 4:43 a.m. Sunday, Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Prewitt charged Tyler J. Bowlin, 20, of 1310 Keswick Road, with theft by unlawful taking over $500 but less than $10,000 and lodged him in the Whitley County Detention Center.
He was released from jail about 7:10 p.m. Sunday on a $7,500 surety bond, according to the detention center’s website.
Prewitt responded to a call that morning stating that the nine 5’x5′ rolls of hay had been taken from a Mud Creek farm as early as 4 a.m., according to a sheriff’s department release.
Prewitt met with the victim, Willie Singleton, who advised him that Bowlin had stolen the hay from his field and each roll was worth about $65, Prewitt wrote on the arrest citation.
When Prewitt spoke with Bowlin, he allegedly told police that he was "sitting at home and got bored" and then went to Singleton’s field where he took the hay, according to the arrest citation.
Bowlin told deputies that he hauled the bales of hay to a residence on Sandy Flats Road. Prewitt located the trailer there with nine rolls of hay on it, he wrote on the arrest citation.
Bowlin offered police no other explanation for his behavior, according to the sheriff’s department release.
