Pops in the Park event returning to Williamsburg this weekend
For those looking for something different to do this weekend, the Williamsburg Main Street Program has you covered.
Pops in the Park returns to downtown Williamsburg for its second year on Saturday, April 15 at the Green Space on Main. The event will feature two American idol contestants, Brooks Kidd and Mikenley Brown.
Kidd, who is a London native, is an American Idol alum from season 20, where he received a “Golden Ticket” to the California competition during his audition. Brown is competing in the current season of American Idol.
Williamsburg Main Street Manager Jonathan Wyatt urged anyone who is interested to come out and participate.
“Come out for a great night of pop music. They are going to be awesome,” said Wyatt. “Bring a lawn chair, bring some picnic items or order takeout from our local downtown restaurants. It’s an event you surely don’t want to miss.”
The event begins at 6 p.m. and is scheduled to end at 8 p.m.
Pops in the Park began last year as a fundraiser by the Williamsburg Independent School Music Department, but is being continued as an ongoing yearly series. City officials said that they expect the event to work closely with the University of the Cumberlands’ Music Department moving forward to help showcase a different variety of music.
