UPDATED: Victims of possible triple ‘homicide’ in Corbin identified; son killed in Baltimore shootout

Above, the home of Kevin and Sarah Hendrix, at 1212 Forest Circle Drive in Corbin, is encircled by police tape Saturday evening. Police are investigating a possible triple homicide at the residence.
UPDATE: Police have identified the three people found dead at 1212 Forest Circle Drive in Corbin as Kevin Hendrix, his wife Dr. Sarah Hendrix and their daughter Grace. Authorities are investigating the deaths as homicides. The couple’s son, Jason, was killed earlier Saturday mornng following a pursuit and shootout with police near Baltimore, MD. He injured one officer and was fatally wounded by return fire.
Police are currently investigating "multiple" death’s at a residence in Corbin, but officials have released little information about how they think the individuals may have died.
According to Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley, the death investigation began sometime around 5:00 p.m. Saturday. Authorities are focusing their investigation on 1212 Forest Circle Drive. The last name on the mailbox at the address has the name "Hendrix." A resident in the area indentified the homeowners as Kevin and Sarah Hendrix, and added that the couple has at least two children and had lived at the residence for about five or six years.
Neighbors say the couple’s son hasn’t been at school for several days.
"At this point, it’s multiple deaths," Croley said. "There’s too much going on right now to say much more. That’s really all I know."
Corbin Police Chief David Campbell said investigators found three bodies in the home when they arrived. He said the discovery is being investigated as triple homicide.
Rob Jones, Public Information Officer with the Corbin Police Department, said his department was contacted by Baltimore County Police at about 4:00 p.m. Saturday. That contact led to officers going to the home where they made the gruesome discovery.
Sources tell the News Journal that the investigation may be linked to a deadly shootout that happened in Baltimore, MD Saturday morning. The shooter, a middle-aged man, fired on police during a pursuit and was killed. He was driving a vehicle registered in Kentucky.
Sarah Hendrix was a professor at Union College in Barbourville. The school’s official Facebook page acknowledged her death, along with that of her husband and daughter.
"The Union College community is heartbroken by the tragic deaths of Dr. Sarah Hendrix, her husband Kevin, and their daughter Grace. We have lost a member of our family, a wonderful educator, colleague, and friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hendrix family at this time."

R.I.P. Grace. May your spirit leave on peace and rest in the hands of God. Her brother is psychotic to kill his family just because his computer was taken away. I don’t know Gracie (even though she goes to my school) but I do know that she should have a second chance to live. I’m sure she never deserved this and I’m sorry to all who suffered her loss. She was much too young to die. Keep praying and never loose hope.

I think sometimes parents try to raise their children to be upstanding citizens & is a little too strict. And push their children to try to choose the right direction. But it’s better to let your child sometimes make their own decisions. not all the time but let them feel like they do have some decision if their own. I don’t know if this is the case here, but I did read some stuff about this situation that led me to this thought. I know some kids that their parents are to strict on them and they choose very bad paths. I also know kids parents who are not strict enough choose really bad paths. It’s just your own judgment of n how to raise kids. No matter the situation this is a tragedy I hate this for his friends other family members, I also hate how he must of felt to be pushed this far tondo something this drastic.
This is crazy. There are just too many stories of otherwise normal human beings, snapping and wiping out their families or going on shooting sprees. I never heard of or knew any kids like this while I was growing up. And perhaps because I wasn’t watching the news as much. But what a waste. As a father, it’s scary not knowing why these things happen. You bust your bottom day in and day out for a couple of decades trying to raise decent human beings and then this happens? Wow
You sarcastic people really need to get a life. NONE of this is ANYONE’S business except for the family and the authorities. The family should decide when names are released. If a tragedy happens it does not concern you just because you are curious. The media are vultures. This wasn’t 911 or a weather update. If you can’t be respectful to a mourning family, the deceased and a small child..keep your small minded comments to yourself. Some people are just a total waste of oxygen.

It is easy to pin it on Jason now that he is dead!I know this kid. I have worked with this kid and even if he was going through a hard time, he still found a way to crack a quick joke and console another classmate. It all just does not add up. I love this kid like he was my own and it is KILLING me right now. The police better **** well do their job and solve this the right way instead of sweeping it up under the rug!!
Jason attended Woodford County Middle School in VERSAILLES, KY. He was the sweetest kid everr and he was always respectful. He had a heart for special needs kids too. I’m utterly in shock…I loved his guy like he was one of my own.
Someone always says something like this but I look at it different. I kind of appreciate the tv and newspaper for keeping us informed about what is going on so quickly.
The news journal and mr knuckles are notorious for reporting things with Complete lack or regard for people in this area. The people of Corbin mean nothing to them. This is news to them, but these are sisters, mothers, children and friends. mr. Knuckles and the daily journal are vultures. I despise them. So sorry for such a tragedy. Prayers for their family and friends.

This is awful. Jason was a kindhearted sweet person. I didn’t know him well but I saw him at lunch. He brought smiles to everyone. Its hard to think he did this

Jason was killed in a police shoot out in Baltimore Md. He was led a vehicle chase by the police, shot at a police officer and police returned fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is such a tragedy!! What is even sadder is the news paper putting this out before all the family member had been notified. They do have a daughter in college that you failed to acknowledge, who more than likely did it know. The authorities have not even released information yet for these reasons.
