Tuesday night fire guts Williamsburg residence

A fire that broke out Tuesday night gutted a Williamsburg home.

Fire crews with the Williamsburg Fire Department were dispatched to Crisp Court in the Highland Park area at approximately 7:15 p.m. and arrived on the scene just a few minutes later. Chief Larry Todd said the structure was a 24 by 20 foot shed that had been converted into a residence.

According to Todd, the fire appeared to start somewhere in the middle of the structure, though the cause is currently unknown.

“With so much damage, it’s going to be hard to tell what caused it,” said Todd.

There was no electricity at the residence, according to Todd, and interior of the structure was completely gutted as a result of the blaze. No one was home at the time the fire began and Todd noted that the owner was staying with his mother following the fire.

The scene was cleared at approximately 8:30 p.m.
