Baseball/softball results – 3/31/15
Several coverage area baseball and softball teams participated in important games against district or region opponents Tuesday night.
The Williamsburg Lady Jackets softball team fell to 4-2 on the year after a 7-0 loss at home against the South Laurel Lady Cardinals. This was Williamsburg’s first 50th District game of the 2015 season.
Also opening up district play at home Tuesday was the Corbin Lady Redhounds softball team, who defeated Whitley County 10-1. The win puts Corbin at 3-4 on the year. With the loss, the Lady Colonels fall to 4-2.
Finally, the Lynn Camp Lady Cats softball team traveled to Jackson County Tuesday, where they hoped to pick up their second win of the season. They were not successful, however, and now stand at 1-4 overall after a loss to the Lady Generals.
In baseball action, the Corbin Redhounds picked up a huge win at home over 13th Region opponent North Laurel. The Hounds defeated the Jaguars 2-1 to get their second win in as many days and improve to 3-4 on the year.
The Whitley County Colonels did not fare so well on the road against Clay County, falling 13-2 to give them an overall record of 4-2 to begin the 2015 season.
And the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets were not able to make it two in a row versus the Barbourville Tigers this season, losing at home by a final score of 10-3 and falling to 2-3 on the season.
