Support local business this Valentine’s Day with Lovin’ the Burg
You can support local business and potentially win a gift basket this Valentine’s Day thanks to a week-long event co-sponsored by the Williamsburg Main Street program and City of Williamsburg.
The Lovin’ the Burg event kicks off Monday, but those hoping to participate have until Feb. 13 to do so. To get in on the fun, you can snag a loyalty card by making a purchase at any of the participating businesses. Each purchase gets your card a stamp and the cards can be used at any business participating in the event.
Once your card is filled, you can drop it off at Williamsburg City Hall or the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center. Filled cards must be dropped off by the close of business on Feb. 13.
The winner of Lovin’ the Burg will be announced on Valentine’s Day, who will take home gift basket filled with gift certificates, merchandise and a variety of Shop Local items.
Jonathan Wyatt, Williamsburg Main Street Manager, asked that the community come out and participate, stressing the importance of small, local business.
“Shopping local helps businesses stay in town,” said Wyatt. “These businesses are the businesses that support your kids’ athletic teams, they are the ones that provide you with places to gather to eat or to shop. This is our time to show some lovin’ back to them for what they’ve done for us. It’s also a chance for us to show some Williamsburg hospitality to our new business owners.”
Any local business that would like to participate are being asked send your information to Wyatt at (606) 280-0872. Businesses have until Sunday, Feb. 5 to register.
As of Friday afternoon, businesses that will be participating include: JennieLynn Boutique, Butcher’s Pub, Brick Oven, Moonbow Mercantile, The Sud’s Barn, Chelsea’s Creations and Gracefully Designed.
For a full list of participating businesses, see the Feb. 8 edition of the News Journal.
