Corbin man arrested in connection with slashing at Corbin Manor Apartments
A Corbin man is facing an assault charge in Laurel County for allegedly slashing another man in the face outside Corbin Manor Apartments Wednesday night.
Thirty-six-year-old Michael Felts was arrested near his home on Piney Hill Road following an investigation by Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott.
The alleged victim, 22-year-old Daniel Boggs was taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Corbin and later airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
“It was real deep and over four inches long,” said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, public affairs officer at the sheriff’s department when asked for details about the injury.
Acciardo said deputies were called to the scene off of American Greeting Road about 8:20 p.m. in response to a complaint that a male subject had been assaulted with a knife.
Through the course of the investigation, officers determined there had been some kind of altercation between Felts and Boggs.
Acciardo said deputies are still working to determine what the men were arguing about and how they knew each other.
However, they have determined that alcohol was a factor.
Felts had fled the scene before officers arrived.
Acciardo said officers located Felts about 11:45 p.m. and took him into custody.
Felts is charged with first-degree assault and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
Felts is being held without bond in the Laurel County Correctional Facility.
