W’burg Cash Express hosting ‘fill a fire truck’ toy, coat drive Friday (Dec. 2)
If you have a little something extra this coming holiday season and you want to help out some less fortunate folks then keep reading.
Williamsburg Cash Express’ 17th Annual Coat and Toy Drive for the Children is once again under way with drop off boxes located throughout Williamsburg. In addition, donations are also being accepted at Cash Express, which is located in Cumberland Regional Mall.
“We will take pretty well any kinds of clothes, boots and shoes that can be cleaned and reused toys of all kinds,” Cash Express Manager Cleveland Lawson said in an e-mail.
Non-perishable foods are also being accepted.
All proceeds will be donated to Patterson Creek Volunteer Fire Department’s resource center.
On Friday, Dec. 2, there will be a “fill a fire truck,” event outside Williamsburg’s Cash Express where the community will be asked to make donations in hopes of filling up at least one fire truck. Three years ago, two fire trucks and a sheriff’s department police cruiser were filled during the event.
This year Cash Express is also asking local schools to help with its drive, and it will be providing a pizza party to the class in each grade that collects the most with the school principal deciding the winning class.
Cash Express has asked that all donations be made by Dec. 15 in order to have them delivered in time for Christmas.
