Continuing sports coverage for Wednesday, Oct 7
Three big events took place Tuesday night, October 6 in the world of local sports. Both the Whitley County Lady Colonels and the Corbin Lady Redhounds met up with district opponents on the volleyball court, with Whitley hosting the Knox Central Lady Panthers and Corbin traveling to face the South Laurel Lady Cardinals.
The Lady Colonels (12-14) picked up their third win of the season over Knox, defeating the Lady Panthers 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-11). The Lady Hounds (12-11) were not so fortunate, falling to South 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 26-24, 25-21). High school volleyball district tournaments are set to get underway in two weeks.
Also Tuesday, area cross country runners took part in the 2015 SEKC meet, held at Knox Central High School in Barbourville. Full results should be available online soon. To check, go to ky.milesplit.com, click on “Results” at the top of the page, and look for “SEKC” on that list.
