Dewey Stanley Parks
Dewey Stanley Parks, Sr., age 87, of Gray, KY passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at his home in the arms of his son Billy.
He was born in Whitley County on March 13, 1935.
He joined two sisters, as the only baby boy, to the late Dewey Elmer Parks and Maggie Angline Roaden Parks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Cansetta Jo Parks; and sisters Mabel Woods and Doris Phipps.
On December 30, 1966, he made Cansetta Jo Baker his bride and together they had three children, Dewey Jr., Billy and Jaime.
He worked at National Standard before becoming disabled following an accident.
He loved lemon meringue pie, old cars, visits from friends and family, trading at local flea markets and he could carry on an entertaining conversation about anything with anybody. He always loved to talk.
He was known for his quick wit and infectious laugh. “Pap”, as he was lovingly known, was a simple, set-in-his-ways type man who will be sorely missed by many.
He is survived by his children, Dewey Parks Jr., Billy Parks and wife Angelina, and Jaime Messer all of Gray, KY; grandchildren, Gage Roark, Tritt Parks, Kiersten Bowlin, Jesse Parks, Nick Parks, Monica Broughton, Jakob Parks, Carlee Goble, Iley Parks, Rafe Reaves-Lester, Logan Messer and Justice Reaves Lester; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Roark, Harli Prewitt, Axel Parks, Abel Parks, Sundance Parks, Maxtyn Bowlin, Harvey Bowlin, Tobias Bowlin, Bennett Broughton and Clementine Bowlin; as well as numerous other family and friends left to mourn his passing.
Funeral service was Saturday, June 19, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the Parks Cemetery, Farris Hill Road, Gray, KY.
Pallbearers were Billy Parks, Bo Gaddis, Allen Cobb, Derek Eubanks, Calvin Smith and Williard Smith. Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons.
Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
