Clyde E. Hill
Clyde E. Hill, age 98, of North 6th Street, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky.
Clyde was born on August 2, 1923 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Samuel Joe and Sarah Katie (Powers) Hill.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Pansy (Mills) Hill; sisters, Marie (Hill) Wright, Joie (Hill) Early and Imogene (Hill) Schoch and brothers, Archie B. Hill and Carl Ray Hill.
Clyde was a World War II combat veteran of the United States Army, serving in the European Theatre at Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He earned four Bronze Stars for Valor. Clyde retired from the Whitley County School System and was the first Basketball Coach at Whitley County High School. Clyde served as Secretary for the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge #490 F&AM for many years.
He is survived by a sister, Thelma Boone of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Martin Hill of Brookville, Ohio; nieces, Wanda Shelley (Lester) of Williamsburg, Barbara Montgomery of Centerville, Ohio, Cheryl Blake of Burlington, North Carolina, Therese Schoch of Dayton, Ohio, Carleen Sharp (Steve) of Union, Ohio, Kathy Gail Rodriguez (Michael) of Kettering, Ohio and Karen Mills of Augusta, Georgia; nephews, Dennis Early (Barbara) of Corbin, Ronald Early (Judy) of Jonesville, Virginia, Jimmy Boone (Kathy) of Huntersville, North Carolina, Dennis Teague (Pam) of Williamsburg, Jeff Foley (Sharon) of Elkhorn City, Kentucky and Larry Mills (Carol) of Washington DC; special caregivers, Betty Thomas Philpot of Rockholds and Gail Thomas of Keavy: and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral service was Sunday, February 27, at Croley Funeral Home. with Rev. Doyle Lester officiating. Masonic Rites were conducted by the Masonic Lodge #490 F&AM before the service.
Following Military Graveside Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin, he was laid to rest in the Croley Addition of Highland Park Cemetery.
