USDSA makes donation to Whitley County Sheriff’s Department
Thanks to the efforts of a national organization, the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department now has some new tools to help stop vehicles fleeing from authorities.

The United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association recently donated these six Devil Spike Strip tire deflation devices to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.
“The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank Mike Willis National Training Director of the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association for donating 6 Devil Spike Strips to our department,” the sheriff’s department wrote in a recent release.
The Devil Spike Strips are tire deflation devices that an officer can roll out in front of a fleeing vehicle to disable the vehicle’s tires to shorten the pursuit or bring it to a stop.
The United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association (USDSA) is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit organization dedicated to the assistance and support of law enforcement, their families, and their communities through equipment, training, End of Watch donations, scholarships, cash grants, and citizen awareness programs, according to its website.
It donates much needed safety equipment to smaller, underfunded law enforcement entities at no charge to the department, including ballistic body armors, preliminary breath testers (PBTs), drug identification kits, emergency belt trauma kits, tactical flashlights, traffic safety vests, first aid kits, and other safety equipment, the website stated.
