Report of ‘unresponsive driver’ at north Corbin gas station results in DUI arrest Sunday
A complaint from employees at a gas station in north Corbin early Sunday morning resulted in the arrest of a London man on a DUI charge.
Jacob Burke, 23, was arrested after Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Tommy Houston found him sitting behind the wheel of a gray Buick at the pumps of the station on West Cumberland Gap Parkway, unresponsive.
Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said that gas station employees had requested law enforcement after observing the vehicle sitting at the gas pumps.
“When Deputy Houston arrived at the scene, he located the suspect vehicle and noted a male subject under the wheel and that he had difficulty awakening the driver,” Acciardo stated adding that Houston requested an ambulance be dispatched to the scene to check on Burke.
“It was determined that the driver was not having a medical issue and an investigation was conducted and the driver was determined to be under the influence,” Acciardo stated.
Burke was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
