Billy Joe Cox

Billy Joe Cox, age 71, of Whiteland, IN formerly of Emlyn, KY, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
He was born March 20, 1950 in Emlyn, KY to the late Pleasant Alonzo and Hila Esther Paul Cox.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Aaron Cox; and six siblings, Arlene Cox, Denver Cox, Phyllis Caddell, Yvonne Jones, Paul Cox, and Carl Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hurst Cox of Whiteland, IN; three children, Lavonne Bell (Scott) of Williamsburg, KY, Patsy Jo Halcomb (Randy) of Williamsburg, KY, and Billy Joe Cox, Jr. (Melinda) of Greenwood, IN; eight grandchildren, Courtney Pierce (Josh), Carissa Leininger (Bobby), Erin Holloway (Ben), C. J. Halcomb (Christa), Patrick Halcomb (Katie), Emily Cox, Kayla Cox, and Cassidy Cox; seven great-grandchildren, Miley Pierce, Chloe Pierce, Robin Leininger, Stella Halcomb, Oaklyn Halcomb, Kapri Halcomb, and Victoria Cox; two sisters, Betty Lawson (Ellis) of Williamsburg, KY, and Barbara Sue Hammons (Burly) of Corbin, KY; one brother, Everett Cox of Chattanooga, TN; mother-in-law, Barbara Hurst of Williamsburg, KY; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 13, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Halcomb officiating. Interment will be in Emlyn Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM until the funeral hour on Thursday, January 13, at the funeral home.
