Miss NIBROC Pageant canceled
For the second year in a row, a new Miss NIBROC will not be crowned.
“Obviously we didn’t have it last year, but if you look at Miss NIBROC over the last several years, it has kind of been an event that is harder each year to put it together because you have, each year it seems like, we have less participation from the girls that enter the competition,” said Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Director Bruce Carpenter. “It is a very expensive part of our festival that really doesn’t generate any revenue.”
Carpenter said that after discussing the pageant with other individuals involved in its production, the decision was made to forego the pageant this year and revisit it in future years.
Miss NIBROC became a qualifier for the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Pageant in 2016.
As for the NIBROC pageant and COVID numbers, Carpenter said that they are following the day to day numbers to see what will transpire moving forward.
