Col. Sanders Half Marathon to return in November
The second annual Colonel Sanders Half Marathon will be returning to Corbin in November.
Corbin Tourism Director Maggy Monhollen said the 2021 event is scheduled for Nov. 13.
“The route will remain the same,” Monhollen said of the course that started and ended on Depot Street, winding throughout the city in between.
Racers will be attempting to beat 2020 winner Collin Wesco’s course record of 18 minutes, 50 seconds.
“Everything was done great,” Wesco said of the race, adding that he could see it reaching Monhollen’s goal of having 1,000 runners within five years.
Registration for the event is underway.
Monhollen noted that 58 runners have signed up.
“At this same time last year, we had about 20 registered,” Monhollen said noting that the event had more than 200 runners taking part with 199 completing the course.
For those who aren’t ready to tackle the 13.1 miles, Monhollen said the event will include a 10-kilometer race.
“It will essentially be the back half of the course, covering 6.2 miles,” Monhollen said.
