Rollover crash leaves teens with just scrapes

Williamsburg Fire and Rescue was called to the scene of a rollover crash on southbound Interstate I-75 Monday morning.

Chief Larry Todd said the Toyota Corolla was approaching Exit 11 at approximately 9:40 a.m. when it went out of control and overturned.

“It rolled over about three times,” Todd said.

Despite the severity of the crash, Todd said the two Ohio teens walked away with only scrapes and bruises.

“They were very, very lucky young men,” Todd said.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, Todd said the teens were already out of the vehicle with the assistance of two men who had stopped to help.

“Every airbag they had had deployed,” Todd said.

Todd said the teens, from Oxford, Ohio, were on their way to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

“The rest of the family drove up soon after,” Todd said.

Whitley County EMS, Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies and Williamsburg Police also responded to the scene.
