Bobby Joe Petrey

Bobby Joe Petrey, age 72, of Williamsburg, Kentucky passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky.

He was born on July 27, 1947 in Williamsburg to Dempsey Edward Petrey and Lela Oshie (Hamblin) Petrey. He was preceded in death by his father, Dempsey Edward Petrey and brother, Homer Edward Petrey.

He was Whitley County Road Dept. Supervisor, Logger, Farmer, Magistrate of 4th district, and store owner for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Brown Petrey of Williamsburg; son, Christopher Petrey (Tabitha) of Williamsburg; step-sons, Michael Brown (Catherine) and Danny Brown (Shonna), both of Corbin; grandchildren, Katherine Brown, Haley Petrey, Kayla Petrey, Cody Petrey, Drake Petrey, Trevor Petrey, and Camden Petrey; mother, Lela Oshie (Hamblin) Petrey of Williamsburg; sisters, Margaret Ellis (James) of Williamsburg, Helen Cox (Joe) of Williamsburg, Theresa Young (Tim) of London, Kay Petrey of Williamsburg, and Rita Petrey of Williamsburg; brother, Tommy Petrey (Nola) of Williamsburg; sister-in-law, Midge Petrey; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral service was held on Monday, July 20, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Meadors officiating.

He was laid to rest in the Petrey Family Cemetery on Craig Road. Joe Cox, Zach Elza, Josh Petrey, Jeff Petrey, Darrell Ellis, Travis Powers, and Brandon Robertson served as pallbearers. Graveside Military Honors were conducted by Keavy 159 D.A.V.
