W’burg woman accused of threatening to kill police officer

A homeless Williamsburg woman allegedly threatened to kill a Williamsburg police officer after he arrested her and booked her into the Whitley County Detention Center early Sunday evening.

Billie Jean Satterfield is accused of threatening to kill a police officer.

Williamsburg Police Sgt. Brandon White initially charged Billie Jean Satterfield, 44, with third-degree criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

Less than half an hour later, Kentucky State Police Trooper Gary Ridener added charges of third-degree terroristic threatening and retaliating against a participant in the legal process.

White arrested Satterfield about 6:09 p.m. Sunday outside of a Cumberland Heights Apartment where her daughter lived.

Williamsburg police initially received a call Saturday that Satterfield was at the apartment complex damaging property, and she was told to leave and not be back on the property or she would be charged, White wrote on an arrest citation.

When Satterfield went back to the property Sunday and beat on the door, White placed her under arrest and took her to the Whitley County Detention Center.

When White pulled up to the jail, Satterfield was allegedly trying to get rid of a pill, and when White pulled her out of his vehicle, she started yelling and cussing at him, kicked him in the leg, and threatened to kill him, according to an arrest citation.

White recovered a peach colored pill believed to be Suboxone, according to an arrest citation.

Ridener was at the jail serving warrants when he observed White bring Satterfield into the building.

Ridener noted on the arrest citation that he observed Satterfield try to assault White on numerous occasions and that she struck White at least once with her foot, Ridener wrote on the citation.

After White walked out of the booking area and back to his police vehicle, Ridener reported hearing Satterfield allegedly say, “I will kill him,” about White because he arrested her, according to an arrest citation.

Satterfield pleaded not guilty to the charges during her arraignment Monday afternoon before Whitley District Judge Fred White.

Judge White appointed the public advocate’s office to represent Satterfield, scheduled a July 9 preliminary hearing in her case and left her bond set at $10,000 cash.
