Jay Darren Murray
Jay Darren Murray, 53, of Jellico, TN passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at his home.
He was born November 17, 1963 in Williamsburg.
He missed working with his wreckers so much and would always talk about it whenever he could, telling about all the wrecks he had pulled in. Jay worked hard even during his younger years. He would drive a coal truck to school and leave at lunch and work the rest of the day. He had several health issues for the past several years which left him disabled to a point where he couldn’t work anymore. He missed his work so terribly bad and would always talk of maybe if he got better he would get another wrecker or coal truck.
He loved going to church and always told how welcome Tannery Hollow Baptist Church made him feel. He spent his last night unable to attend church on Sunday night, because he was sick. Jay can now sing and walk and breathe without any problems and we can definitely say-He was a winner either way.
Jay is preceded in death by his father, Rev. James Cecil “J.C.” Murray.
He is survived by his sons, Jason Murray, Jacob Murray; mother. Vivian Weaver Murray; sister, Vijaya Morton and husband Ed; nephews, Mitchell Long and Michelle; Kenny Long and wife Tiffany; and a host of uncles, aunts, friends and family to mourn his passing.
The funeral was held Thursday, August 31 at the Harp Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Cox officiating.
Burial was held Friday, September 1, in the Warren Memorial Garden (Elk Valley).
Harp Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of arrangements.
